Trump’s Space Force Plan…Separate But Equal

If you are a regular listener of the Whiskey Congress Podcast (www.whiskeycongress.com), you will know that I am not a fan of the President. I make every effort to judge his actions fairly and through a clear lens, but I am rarely encouraged by his actions. Today the President announced that he wanted to launch a new branch of the military called the “Space Force”. He stated that the Space Force would be “separate but equal” to the Air Force. I have been critical of the President’s lack of tact, intellect, historical perspective and ability to think before speaking (among other things) several times on and off the air. The President’s choice of the term “separate but equal” is another illustration of his poor grasp of language, history and context but I digress. There are also international restrictions on the militarization of space.  I am not an expert on those matters and I will not pretend to be, but I can only hope that someone in the administration has the courage and determination to tell the President that he can’t just create a new branch of the military because “space stuff is cool” (not an actual quote as far as I know). Stormy Daniels, the Nation needs you. Please distract this man before we officially violate an international (and possibly intergalactic) agreement.

WASHINGTON – U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday said he was ordering the creation of a sixth branch of the military to focus on space, a move critics said could harm the Air Force.

“It is not enough to merely have an American presence in space. We must have American dominance in space,” Trump said before a meeting of his National Space Council.

“We are going to have the Air Force and we’re going to have the ‘Space Force.’ Separate but equal. It is going to be something,” he said later.
